Preface
This training teaches the search and rescue volunteer basic information about low angle rescue techniques and systems. Please review in detail and in practice the previous training on ropes and knots.
Definitions
Low angle rescue is defined as a safe, coordinated and practiced subject extrication in a terrain environment with a 15 to 40 degree slope. To be clear, in Sonoma County we have the benefit of having a long-line helicopter rescue resource that handles the bulk of subject rescues. It is also clear that the skill set is being required within the State mutual aid guidelines for Type 2 ground search and rescue resources calls for training in these techniques.
The following is an introduction to some terms and equipment.
